Alberta Ferretti Steps Down: A New Chapter for the Iconic Brand
Alberta Ferretti, the renowned Italian designer and founder of her namesake brand, announced her decision to step down as the creative director after over four decades of leading the brand she launched in 1981. Ferretti shared that this decision was made thoughtfully and with a sense of serenity, as she believes it is time to allow a new chapter for the brand. She plans to reveal her successor soon.
Her departure marks the end of an era for the label, which has been synonymous with her signature feminine silhouettes and timeless designs. Ferretti’s journey began in her family’s dressmaking shop and evolved into the creation of a globally recognized fashion house. Despite stepping away from the creative helm, she will continue to serve as vice president of Aeffe Group, the parent company that manages her label alongside other brands like Moschino and Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini.
Her most recent show, held on September 17th in Milan, paid homage to her design legacy, with flowing gowns and modern daywear showcased under the iconic colonnade of the Leonardo da Vinci Museum of Science and Technology. Although the future of the brand under new creative leadership may bring its own challenges, Ferretti remains committed to supporting its evolution. As she steps into the next phase of her career, she intends to focus on her personal passions, including art, while maintaining her role within the Aeffe Group.
