Mytheresa and Vestiaire Collective Broaden Resale Service to All Customers

Mytheresa and Vestiaire Collective have announced an expansion of their resale service, now available to all Mytheresa customers. This service expansion allows any Mytheresa customer to resell their luxury items, even if those items were not originally purchased through Mytheresa, and receive store credit immediately.

Since their partnership began in 2021, more than 26,000 items have been listed for resale. The service, which was initially available only to a select group of customers, has proven popular, with a significant portion of business coming from both clothing and accessories.

Michael Kliger, CEO of Mytheresa, highlights the service as part of a broader commitment to sustainable luxury shopping, noting that many customers have utilized the service multiple times. Maximilian Bittner, CEO of Vestiaire Collective, views the expanded partnership as a key step in promoting circular fashion practices.

The service has seen strong growth, particularly in the U.S., where consumers are drawn to unique European styles. The global resale market, valued at approximately $200 billion, is expected to continue growing annually by 15-20%, reflecting a broader trend towards sustainability in the fashion industry.

Both CEOs underscore the importance of authentication and quality assurance, with several authentication centers around the world, including one in Brooklyn, ensuring the integrity of items resold through the service.
